Married
I am astonished at what is going on between Lydia and Wickham but I believe Mr. Bennet made the right choice in dealing with the matter. Paying Wickham might have been a blow to their finances but was well worth it in my opinion. Now the Bennet's do not have to worry about Wickham hurting their reputation and their daughter Lydia has been wed!

I, too found the entire situation astounding. To be honest, my father only paid a small income to Wickham. We believe that Mr. Gardiner paid Wickham at least 10,000 pounds which my father will surely pay back.
